Waipi'o weekend!

Last night (Friday), Marcelyn and I went out with a youth group to play nighttime-ninja-stealth Capture the Flag... where I learned that I should just sit out, after smashing into someone whose outfit worked a little TOO well and whacking my head quite dramatically into the grass. And nearly getting an asthma attack to boot. I just don't do sports.
I also think it's interesting that so many church groups play Capture the Flag. Why?!

Aside from a little neck stiffness I was fine, though, so today we could go on the outdoor adventure trip to Waipi'o Valley! On the way we drove through Honoka'a and saw cows. There was supposedly a goat, but I missed it and was very put out. But I loved that part of the coast, all on cliffs over the sea...

And then we got to Waipi'o and climbed from the top of the mountain down to the shoreline.
We ended up at that beach down there...
It was STEEP. Going down wasn't that bad, aside from the distinct feeling that if one person fell they would take out the entire rest of the party, but going back up again was killer. It was MUCH worse than going up Road 53, although it was paved, and probably worse than other hike I've ever been on! I was so glad to have been taking hula, my legs are a little more used to being abused...

It's hard to see, but imagine hiking up that for an hour.

But we made it! I was one of the last people up, but that's okay... the beach was very pretty and peaceful once we got down there, and we could see the wild horses! And the OCEAN!!
We all had to squish into vans to get there, and so I was with a very nice girl from Michigan who lent me the money to buy lunch, and a girl from Germany who ended up being my last-hiker-to-arrive buddy, and also suggested having a peanut butter taste test. I like her.

Next week's outing is Mauna Kea, so we'll see...

And now that I am thoroughly exhausted, I think I'll go to sleep early for once. I have tomorrow to finish my homework...
