Last night we had a STORM, complete with total saturation of everything outside... and lightning. Which of course included thunder.
I will now willingly admit that I am afraid of thunder, and happily thought that being on a fairly small island would keep me safely away from it. Oh well. It has helped that large noises sound regularly at night that SOUND like thunder but aren't, so I've gotten a little bit sensitized.
Film class is having technical difficulties, so we are watching our current movie in three parts... which resulted in the paper being pushed back a week. I feel extremely blessed this semester.
The only problem is that it is one of the most fascinating movies I've seen (so far it seems like a combination of The Invisible Man, Phantom of the Opera, and Jekyll and Hyde storylines, all of which I have read/studied recently!), and I want to finish it already!!! My essay is going to be fun.
Last night we had to stop right at the crucial point where they put on his face, so I was not entirely thrilled, and now we wait until Monday to watch the end...
It's called Tanin no Kao, or Face of Another, if anyone was curious.
I was so excited about it that I drank an entire bottle of iced tea while we watched it, which had some caffeine and quite a bit of sugar in it, but the upshot is that my current state is translating into the 'let's-get-stuff-done' variety of hyperactivity, so I feel accomplished.
I think I will go eat dinner now. ...but not too much, because I am rather shockingly starting to actually gain weight. I don't know what's going on anymore! Stupid buffet-style food. Yes.
Like I said, thunderstorms are quite rare, it's been at least several months since the last one. They happen about as often as in NorCal.
