Well, I haven't updated this since Merrie Monarch, and this post is... not about Merrie Monarch.
I spent the week after desperately catching up on all of the work I didn't do during Merrie Monarch (my housemate and I gleefully took a day off to go craft-fairing, and I regret that not at all), went to Kiholo for my Hawaiian field trip, which was fantastic, and came home into a massive case of strep throat.
I've spent the remainder of my final semester of college in varying degrees of sick and exhaustion, have been completely swamped with homework, and things that are meaningful and ending just aren't making that much of an impact yet. I've had my last dance practice (Sunday), last hula performance (Tuesday), last day of classes and Hawaiian party (yesterday), and today is my final jazz band concert! I should be super sad, but I've had so much fun at all of these that I can't help but be smiling all the time. When I'm not sleeping. Such as during my least favorite class. IT'S DONE!!!!
However, I did have a hard time today saying goodbye... to my xylophone. I know that's really sad, but I love playing it, and it's hard to realize that I won't get to ever again. For the concert we have the vibraphone, and we're also borrowing a marimba that is seriously epic and LOUD, so the xylophone got left out because that's a lot of stage space. But it will always be my favorite.
I've really learned a lot this year, and I think I might actually be able to call myself a musician. This concert's kind of a big deal to me.
It's going to be really tough to study after today, but three finals and a fiction portfolio are waiting for me.....
Hold On, I'm Coming is one of the songs we're playing tonight. I hope we do well!!
A hui hou!
