International Nights!

This weekend was super busy, partially because the swing dance group performed in the UHH International Nights on Friday!!
You can see the video here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_jDU5cnuDZk
And you can see my bazillion mistakes. We actually had a really awesome performance... at the dress rehearsal. It was really nerve-wracking to be on stage on Friday, but no one tripped and we all were moving, so it was fine. And they gave us food and cake afterwards!
Shiori was in Saturday's performance, so I went to see that one too. It was really really pretty! She and the other dancer who is in my Linguistics classes had regular kimono instead of yukata, it was very exciting.

On Saturday Marcelyn and I got a ride up to Waimea for the Cherry Blossom Festival! Viewing the cherry blossoms (or sakura) is kind of a big deal in springtime Japan, as some of you may know, so it was basically a Japanese festival. We got lost and didn't find the main event area until half an hour before it ended, but we did see the cherry trees, 5 of which actually had flowers (and I fell asleep under them, it was quite pretty and poetic until I got home and was sunburnt), and a sushi demonstration that had some really cool stuff (that I missed mostly because I fell asleep there too), and taiko, and a farmer's market (that wasn't Japanese, we were just lost), and a lot of Waimea.

I've said it before, but I love Waimea. A lot. There's hills and cows and lots of grass and it's just very pretty.

I missed most of the superbowl because it was Marcelyn's birthday and I was off making her a cake and falling asleep (it was a tiring weekend), but they had an on-campus party that looked like a ton of fun. Maybe next year.

And it finally rained today! The weekend was quite warm. So today was nice and chilly and I got to splash in the puddles again.

Our Glee club is now going to be performing on the 23rd. How do I get into these things?
