This past weekend I participated in the college's Relay For Life, which runs from 6 PM to 6 AM. If it hadn't been for the fact that I had been staying up rather late/early all of last week anyway, it wouldn't be a problem, but I was already rather tired and it was actually a relay, which meant a lot of walking. I got there at 9 PM (after an hour and a half of swing dancing, no less) and don't remember sitting down all that much.
But it was really fun! There was music and games all night, and I got to make smoothies and sell cool stuff to raise money for our booth, and I got a shirt, and I am definitely going to try and go again next year.
And if that wasn't enough, this weekend was also a set of workshops for swing dance! We had a world champion couple come (to Hilo!) and give instructions, and our UH club's leader kindly gave the four of us students scholarships to a few of them, so I got to learn boogie and styling moves like swivels and flying lindy (which is every bit as frightening as it sounds) as well as do a lot of just dancing. Dancing with the instructor was one of the most intimidating things ever. It was really hard, but we still had a lot of fun.
I have the feeling that tomorrow will not be fun.
