Riceballs!

I seem to be getting the hang of history homework, which is wonderful, as it is currently the source of much procrastination and I really do need to start researching the Japanese eel for Aquaculture. (I kind of wanted either the meagre or the milkfish, but neither of them are in Japan. For the sake of pretending to be a good student in my major, I picked the eel, but it does look interesting. More on that later.)

Today we made onigiri, or Japanese riceballs! Since I do have a rice cooker, quite a lot of rice, and some actual time to cook it, it turned out to be a lot of fun! Marcelyn and Risa came over to help me make and eat some, it made more than I thought it would. And now I have some in the dorm freezer that, hopefully, no one will eat. (I wouldn't eat random strange food. Okay, I might, but it depends on what it was.)
But since it is the name of my blog I thought it would be fitting to write about riceballs.

Aside from being stuck with homework, it was quite a pleasant day, and since I can't remember what else I was going to write about, I'm going to finish trying to work out Japanese passive tenses. I understand how they're formed, I just don't know WHY or WHEN you would ever use them. Especially since they're nearly the same as conditional tenses, which I very much prefer.
I kind of like taking Japanese just because I was listening to a song yesterday and parts of it suddenly made so much more sense. ('He switched verbs! That must mean the subject changed!')

And, on a parting note, did you know that the Spanish 'll' used to be pronounced more like an actual 'l' sound? Historical Linguistics is really quite fun.

First-mate pirate kitty Rachel, signing out. (Except that she nearly put 'singing', and that isn't until tomorrow.)
