So, I have attended my first college party.
We had orange juice and cookies, in case you were worried, Mom. It was a surprise birthday party for one of the exchange students. I couldn't even eat the cookies, they had milk in them.
But now that that's out of the way, I don't have to go to any more! Right?
One of the downsides of Japanese class is that you start calling everyone by their last name, only because you never use their first. I'm seriously thinking of telling people to shorten my name to Hazel.
Another is that I can't seem to STOP speaking Japanese. I guess that's a good thing though?
My Sociology class is starting our first paper today, it's very stressful!!! The class is front-loaded, though, so after September and the second paper there won't be a whole lot of assignments.
I love my Sociology teacher. She has the best quotes (after Dr. Bamforth, of course). Sarah already knows some. :)
It's a pretty interesting subject too, especially for someone who was homeschooled. Suddenly I'm thinking it may be a good thing that I was never properly 'socialized', because I then have more free will to make my own choices than most. Or something. It's a very confusing idea.
I have also realized that I no longer want to major in Linguistics! I do like it, but I would have rather done Language Studies, which is different. So it's a good thing I'm a Japanese major now. (Well, that and the fact that switching my major would have been a royal pain...)
The sports and recreation classes started this week, and they have an entire tournament schedule... for Wii. I am very tempted, seeing as one of the games is Just Dance 2. And another is Wii Sports, so I can whack away at imaginary tennis balls with abandon.
But instead a bunch of us are taking hula. It's HARD, especially for me! We learned so much in the first day! All those hip movements...
Misa is taking both hula and bellydance, but 'unfortunately' enough, one of mine and Dory's classes is conflicting, so we can't do it. I think I would die.
Sometimes it's very discouraging having Shiori as a roommate. Not only is she taking Hawaiian AND Chinese this semester, she is of course rather good at hula.
I think maybe I should go do finish my homework. And buy the very last of my schoobooks. (Hopefully.)
Or just go and listen to The Little Mermaid some more.
じゃね!
Turns out your roommate is in my Hawaiian class. What are the odds?
ReplyDeleteAnd I know what you mean about never being properly 'socialized'. I'm so overwhelmingly thankful I was isolated from much society for most of my growing-up years.
And I also know what you mean about hula! It's TOUGH! Are you taking a hula class specifically?
Yeah, she mentioned that! And one of your housemates is in my Japanese class. Small world, I guess, or maybe small school...
ReplyDeleteWell, now I'm told it depends on the situation. I don't know, sociology makes my head hurt.
I'm taking the hula class at the gym! And standing way in the back :)
